Commonly known as black cod, it is prized for its rich melt-in-your-mouth flavor and succulent, velvety texture 

  • Largely comprised of omega-3 fatty acids, primarily DHA and EPA

  • Harvested by longlining and pot-fishing from Southeast Alaska, the Bering Sea, and the Gulf of Alaska

  • Preparing methods: smoking, sautéing, poaching or roasting  

  • High oil content = difficult to overcook
